Understanding Notification Delivery

Mallnline keeps you informed about Murchase updates, Workroom activity, organization invitations, uChat messages, and promotional offers through the Notification Center — the 🔔 bell icon in the top navigation bar.

How Notifications Reach You

The Notification Center uses real-time WebSocket delivery to push notifications to your browser the instant they happen. You'll see a connection indicator in the notification dropdown footer:

Indicator Meaning
đŸŸĸ Live Notifications arrive instantly via WebSocket
🟡 30s poll Fallback mode — notifications are checked every 30 seconds

TIP

Most of the time you'll see the đŸŸĸ Live indicator. If your connection drops, Mallnline automatically reconnects and temporarily switches to polling until the live connection is restored.

Opening Your Notifications

  1. Click the 🔔 bell icon in the top navigation
  2. The dropdown shows your most recent notifications, grouped by type:
    • đŸ“Ļ Murchase updates — Status changes, shipping, delivery confirmations
    • đŸ’Ŧ Messages — New messages in uChat conversations
    • 🔧 Workroom — Issue assignments, discussion mentions, action items
    • đŸˇī¸ Promotions — Sales, new arrivals from Malets you follow
    • 🔒 Security — Login alerts, password changes, two-factor events
    • đŸĸ Organization — Team invitations, role changes
  3. Click any notification to navigate to the relevant page
  4. Use "Mark all read" to clear the unread badge

Notification Badge

The red badge on the bell icon shows your unread count:

  • Numbers 1–9 are shown directly
  • 9+ is shown when you have 10 or more unread notifications

Real-Time Delivery

Notifications now arrive instantly — there's no delay between when an event happens and when you see it in your notification dropdown. This applies to all notification types, including:

  • Someone sends you a message in uChat
  • Your Murchase status changes (shipped, delivered, etc.)
  • You're assigned to a Workroom issue
  • A Malet you follow posts new items
  • A team member invites you to an organization

Automatic Reconnection

If your internet connection drops temporarily:

  1. Mallnline detects the interruption immediately
  2. The indicator changes to show reconnection is in progress
  3. Reconnection is attempted automatically with increasing wait times (1 second, 2 seconds, 4 seconds...)
  4. If reconnection fails after several attempts, the system gracefully falls back to 30-second polling
  5. Once your connection stabilizes, WebSocket delivery is restored on the next page load

NOTE

You won't miss any notifications during reconnection. All notifications are stored on the server, and any missed items are delivered as soon as the connection is restored.

Managing Notification Preferences

You can control which types of notifications you receive and through which channels:

  1. Go to Settings → Notifications (or click âš™ī¸ in the notification dropdown footer)
  2. Toggle global channels: Email, SMS, Push
  3. Fine-tune per-category preferences (e.g., enable email for Murchase updates but disable SMS for promotions)

TIP

Even if you disable email or SMS for a category, you'll still receive in-app notifications for important events like Murchase status changes and security alerts.

Full Notifications Page

For a complete view of your notification history:

  1. Click "View All Notifications" in the dropdown footer
  2. The full-page view at /notifications provides:
    • Category filtering tabs
    • Infinite scroll for older notifications
    • Dismiss and mark-as-read controls

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Why do I see 🟡 instead of đŸŸĸ? A: The polling indicator appears when the real-time WebSocket connection can't be established — usually due to a temporary network issue or if the real-time server is undergoing maintenance. Your notifications still arrive, just with a short delay (up to 30 seconds). The live connection will be restored automatically.

Q: Will I miss notifications if my connection drops? A: No. All notifications are stored on the server. When your connection is restored, any notifications you missed during the downtime will appear in your notification dropdown.

Q: Do I need to do anything to enable real-time delivery? A: No — it's automatic. As long as you're logged in, the Notification Center connects to the real-time server and delivers notifications instantly.
