Getting Paid â Payouts & Earnings
As a Malet Owner, every Murchase made through your Malet earns you revenue. This guide explains how earnings work, how to set up payouts, and how to track your commission history.
How Earnings Work
When a Visitor completes a Murchase from your Malet, Mallnline automatically splits the payment:
- Your Earnings â The majority of the sale goes directly to your payout account
- Platform Commission â A small percentage is retained as a platform fee
- Processing Fee â Standard card processing fees (2.9% + $0.30) are deducted
Your commission rate depends on your subscription tier:
| Tier | Platform Commission | You Keep |
|---|---|---|
| Starter | 8% | 92% |
| Pro | 5% | 95% |
| Enterprise | 3% | 97% |
TIP
Upgrading your subscription tier directly reduces your commission rate. A Pro Malet saves 3% on every sale compared to Starter.
Example Breakdown
For a $100 Murchase on a Starter plan:
| Line Item | Amount |
|---|---|
| Gross Sale | $100.00 |
| Platform Commission (8%) | â$8.00 |
| Processing Fee (2.9% + $0.30) | â$3.20 |
| Your Net Payout | $88.80 |
Setting Up Payments
Before you can receive payouts, you need to connect a bank account through Stripe Express.
Step 1: Navigate to Payouts
Go to your Malet management dashboard and click Payouts in the sidebar navigation.
Step 2: Start Onboarding
Click the "Set Up Payments" button. You'll be redirected to Stripe's secure onboarding page where you'll need to:
- Verify your identity
- Provide your business details (if applicable)
- Connect a bank account or debit card
Step 3: Complete Verification
After submitting your information, Stripe will verify your identity. This usually takes a few minutes but can take up to 48 hours in some cases.
NOTE
Your account will show as "Onboarding" until Stripe completes verification. Once verified, it automatically transitions to "Active" and payouts begin on your chosen schedule.
If Your Onboarding Link Expires
Stripe onboarding links expire after a single use. If you didn't complete the process, simply return to the Payouts page and click "Continue Setup" to generate a new link.
Payout Schedule
Once your account is active, you can configure when you receive payouts:
| Schedule | Description |
|---|---|
| Daily | Payouts every business day |
| Weekly | Payouts once per week on your chosen day |
| Biweekly | Payouts every two weeks |
| Monthly | Payouts once per month on your chosen day |
| Manual | Request payouts on demand |
To change your schedule, go to Payouts â Settings and select your preferred interval.
IMPORTANT
Stripe typically takes 2 business days to transfer funds to your bank account after a payout is initiated, regardless of your schedule setting.
Understanding Your Dashboard
The Payouts dashboard has four sections:
Overview Cards
At the top of the page, you'll see key metrics:
- Total Earnings â Lifetime revenue after commissions
- Pending Balance â Funds waiting for the next scheduled payout
- Next Payout â Estimated date and amount of your next payout
- Commission Rate â Your current platform fee percentage
Commission History
A detailed table showing every Murchase and its commission breakdown:
- Murchase ID â Link to the original Murchase
- Gross Amount â The full sale price
- Commission â Platform fee deducted
- Net Payout â What you received
- Status â Pending, Settled, Refunded, or Partially Refunded
Settings
Configure your payout schedule, view your KYC verification status, and manage your bank account details (managed through Stripe's dashboard).
Rolling Reserve
For new Malet Owners, Mallnline holds a small reserve (10%) from each payout for the first 90 days. This protects both you and the platform from chargebacks and disputes.
| Detail | Value |
|---|---|
| Reserve percentage | 10% |
| Duration | 90 days from your first sale |
| Enterprise tier | Exempt (0% reserve) |
After the 90-day maturity period, the reserve is automatically lifted and all future payouts are sent in full.
NOTE
The reserve funds are not lost â they are simply delayed. Once the holding period expires for each transaction, those funds are released to your pending balance.
Refunds and Commissions
When a Murchase is refunded, the commission is proportionally returned to you:
- Full refund â 100% of the commission is returned
- Partial refund (e.g., 40%) â 40% of the commission is returned
The platform absorbs the Stripe processing fee on refunds â you are never charged processing fees on refunded Murchases.
Account Statuses
Your payout account can be in one of these states:
| Status | Meaning | Action Required |
|---|---|---|
| Pending | Account created but onboarding not started | Click "Set Up Payments" |
| Onboarding | Stripe verification in progress | Wait for verification (or complete any pending steps) |
| Active | Fully verified, payouts enabled | None â you're all set! |
| Suspended | Temporarily paused (e.g., dispute threshold) | Contact support |
| Deactivated | Account permanently closed | Contact support to reactivate |
Frequently Asked Questions
How long until I receive my first payout?
After your Stripe account is verified (usually within minutes), payouts follow your chosen schedule. Stripe transfers take an additional 2 business days to reach your bank account.
Can I change my bank account?
Yes â click "Manage on Stripe" in your Payout Settings to update your bank details through Stripe's secure dashboard.
Why is my commission rate different from what I expected?
Your commission rate is determined by your Malet's subscription tier (Starter: 8%, Pro: 5%, Enterprise: 3%). Upgrade your subscription to reduce your commission rate.
What happens to my earnings if I downgrade my tier?
Your commission rate changes immediately to match your new tier. Any already-settled Murchases are unaffected â only future Murchases use the new rate.

Stripe supports payouts in most major currencies. Your payout currency is set during the Stripe Express onboarding process based on your bank account's country.
WARNING
If you need to change your payout currency after setup, you'll need to contact support to deactivate your current account and create a new one.
