Creating Malets for Your Organization

When you belong to an Organization on Mallnline, you can create Malets that are owned by the Organization rather than your personal account. This guide explains how to choose and manage ownership context when creating new Malets.

Understanding Ownership

Every Malet on Mallnline has an owner — either your personal account or an Organization you belong to.

Choosing Ownership When Creating a Malet

When you open the Create Malet wizard, you'll see an Owner dropdown at the top of the page. This lets you choose who will own the new Malet.

Steps

1. Navigate to Create Malet from The Deck or via the quick action menu
2. At the top of the wizard, find the Owner dropdown
3. Click it to see your options:
   • Your name — Creates a personal Malet under your account
   • Organization name(s) — Creates a Malet owned by that Organization
4. Select the desired owner
5. A badge will appear next to the dropdown confirming your choice: "Personal Malet" or "Org Malet"
6. Continue through the wizard steps as usual

Your Organization's Plan

Every Organization automatically starts with the Starter plan:

Viewing Ownership in The Deck

Your Malet command center — The Deck — shows which Malets are personal and which belong to an Organization.

Each Malet card displays a small badge:

• Personal (blue) — Owned by your personal account
• Org (pink) — Owned by an Organization

When you're in an Organization context, the Create New Malet button will show "Create Malet for [Org Name]" to make it clear where the new Malet will be created.

Creating a New Organization

If you don't have an Organization yet, you can create one directly from the Malet creation wizard:

1. Open the Owner dropdown
2. Click "Create new organization" at the bottom
3. Complete the Organization setup
4. You'll be redirected back to the wizard with your new Organization pre-selected

Plan Limit Messages

If you hit your plan's Malet limit, you'll see a message like:

• Personal context: "You've reached the Starter plan limit of 1 Malet. Upgrade to Pro to add more."
• Organization context: "Your organization 'Acme Corp' has reached the Starter plan limit of 1 Malet. Upgrade to Pro to add more."

To upgrade, visit Organization Settings → Billing or go to the Pricing & Plans page.

Switching Between Contexts

You can switch your active context at any time using the context switcher in your account menu:

1. Click your avatar in the top-right corner
2. In the Switch context section, choose Personal or one of your Organizations
3. All subsequent actions (creating Malets, viewing The Deck, searching) will be scoped to the selected context

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I transfer a personal Malet to an Organization?

Not yet — Malet ownership transfer is on our roadmap. For now, you'll need to create a new Malet under the Organization.

Do I need a paid plan to create an Organization?

No. Organizations are free to create and start on the Starter plan with 1 Malet and 3 members.

Can I belong to multiple Organizations?

Yes! You can be a member of multiple Organizations and create Malets under any of them using the Owner dropdown.

What happens to my Malets if I leave an Organization?

Your personal Malets are unaffected. Malets owned by the Organization remain with the Organization and continue to be managed by other members.
