How Your "For You" Feed Works

Your "For You" feed is unique to your profile and activity. It intelligently shifts between two modes depending on how you use the platform:

1. The Personalized Experience

If you are logged into your account and actively following Malets, your feed becomes highly personalized. The algorithm prioritizes new releases and highly-rated items specifically from the Malets you follow.

This ensures that the brands, creators, and service providers you care about most are always front and center in your Lobby.

If you are browsing anonymously, or if you haven't followed any Malets yet, your feed will display Trending items.

Trending items represent the most popular and highly sought-after products across the entire platform right now.

As you browse your feed, you may notice some items have a small fire icon with a number (e.g., đŸ”Ĩ 42). This is the item's Trending Score.

The Trending Score is a real-time reflection of an item's popularity across the platform. It is calculated automatically by looking at a combination of high-intent actions from other Visitors:

  • Murchases: When an item is bought or booked, its score increases significantly.
  • Wishlist Adds: When an item is saved to a custom list or wishlist, its score increases.
  • Views: General interest and page views also contribute to the score.

The higher the score, the hotter the item! This makes it easy to spot what is currently going viral or flying off the virtual shelves.

Exploring Beyond Your Feed

While your "For You" feed is a great starting point, remember that the Virtual Mall is vast. You can always use the global search bar to find specific items, or browse through the Mall Directory sections (like Fashion, Tech, or Entertainment) to discover new Malets outside of your usual recommendations.

Frequently Asked Questions

How often is my feed updated? Your feed refreshes every time you visit the Lobby. Trending scores are recalculated every few hours to reflect the latest platform activity.

Can I switch between Personalized and Trending views? The feed automatically switches based on your account status. If you're signed in and following Malets, you see the personalized feed. If not, you see trending. There's no manual toggle needed.

Why do I see items from Malets I don't follow? If you follow fewer Malets, the feed supplements your personalized results with trending items from across the platform so your feed always has fresh content.

Is my "For You" feed the same as my Following feed? They're complementary. The Following feed shows the latest items from Malets you follow, sorted by newest first. The "For You" feed ranks items by a combination of your follows and popularity signals, so you discover high-quality items you might have missed.

Does browsing history affect my feed? Currently, the algorithm personalizes based on which Malets you follow, not your browsing history. This means you're always in control of what appears in your feed.
