Organization Lifecycle: What Happens When…?

Managing an Organization on Mallnline involves several lifecycle events. This guide answers the most common questions about what happens at each stage β€” from creation to deletion.


Creating an Organization

When you create a Pro Malet (which includes an Organization):

  1. You complete payment through Stripe Checkout
  2. Your Organization and Malet are created automatically after payment
  3. You become the Owner β€” the highest permission level
  4. You can immediately invite team members and manage your workspace

NOTE

Organizations can only be created through the Pro Plan Malet Creation wizard. This ensures your billing is set up correctly before any resources are provisioned. If you need an Enterprise plan, contact our sales team.


Team Management

What happens when I invite someone?

  • They receive an email with a secure invitation link
  • The link is valid for 7 days
  • They can accept the invite from the link or from their Mallnline dashboard
  • Once accepted, they appear in your Members list with the role you assigned

What happens if someone leaves or is removed?

  • Their membership is immediately revoked
  • They lose access to all organization resources
  • Their past actions (product edits, blog posts) are retained
  • They can be re-invited at any time

Malet Ownership

What happens when I transfer a personal Malet to my Organization?

  • The Malet appears under your Organization's dashboard
  • All products, orders, blog posts, and community content move with it
  • Team members gain access based on their role permissions
  • The transfer is instant and reversible β€” you can transfer it back at any time

What happens when I transfer a Malet from my Organization to my personal account?

  • The Malet moves to your personal Deck
  • Team members lose access to that specific Malet
  • All data (products, orders, history) remains intact
  • Your Organization's maletsCount decreases by 1

Subscriptions & Billing

What happens when my subscription lapses?

If your Pro or Enterprise subscription expires or payment fails:

  • Day 0 (Suspended): Your Organization enters read-only mode. You cannot edit products or create Malets, but your Malets stay live.
  • Day 30 (Frozen): Your Organization is frozen. All your Malets are automatically unpublished and hidden from public view.
  • Day 90 (Archived): Your Organization enters a final dormant state. Data is preserved indefinitely, but the organization is completely locked down.
  • Renewing restores full access immediately at any stage β€” no data is lost.

What happens when I cancel my subscription?

  • Access continues until the end of your current billing period.
  • After that, your Organization will go through the Suspended β†’ Frozen β†’ Archived lifecycle outlined above.
  • All data is preserved indefinitely β€” you can re-subscribe at any time to restore full access.

Deleting an Organization

Can I delete my Organization?

Yes, but only after completing these steps:

  1. Cancel any paid subscription β€” your plan must be on Starter (free)
  2. Transfer or delete all Malets β€” the Organization must own zero Malets
  3. Confirm deletion β€” type the confirmation phrase (o|your-slug)

This safety process prevents accidental data loss, especially for organizations with active commerce.

What happens to my Malets?

You must handle them before deletion. The platform blocks deletion if any Malets are still owned by the Organization. Your options:

  • Transfer to personal β€” Move the Malet to your personal account via the Deck β†’ Transfer button
  • Transfer to another org β€” Move the Malet to a different Organization you own
  • Delete the Malet β€” Permanently remove it (goes to Trash for 30 days first)

What happens to my team members?

  • All memberships are deleted β€” members simply lose access
  • Their personal accounts are unaffected
  • They can be re-invited to a new organization if you create one later
  • Any work they contributed (product edits, blog posts) remains with the Malets
